The Single Most Valuable Asset of Your Business, Bar None

Without a doubt, no matter what business you are in, the single most valuable asset of your business is the list of people you maintain contact with on a regular basis, at least by email, and possibly by mail as well.

If you do not have a list, the time to start building your list is now.  And that does not mean gathering the email addresses of everyone you know in Outlook and sending out mass emails using your bcc: function.

Incubators, Pregnancy and Partners … Evolving Into a New Paradigm of Business

I spent last week in Boulder at the Integral Incubator with Craig and 30 or so other integral focused folks incubating the next phase of their own evolution.

I emerged from the incubator pregnant with possibility, hope and a new project.

I’ll tell you more about the project here as time permits, but for now I want to focus on a couple of other things … 1) my new partner(!!!) (we are in a 3-month trial partnership while we engage in the agreement process) and 2) why you probably won’t see me as the sole owner of anything going forward.

Letting Go for the Highest Good (& a Big Opportunity for An Online Business Owner)

We’ve all heard the saying “If you love something, set it free, if it comes back to you, it’s yours.” Right?

I think it’s probably most said in the context of love and relationship, but it’s equally true in every area of life, including business.

I first discovered the power of it after I created my first information product – the Kids Protection Planning Kit.

I invested $15,000 or so to make the Kit only to have it selling in dribs and drabs that were not going to get me the freedom or impact I had been hoping for when invested my time, energy and money in creating the thing.

A Course in Miracles Days 4, 5 & 6: (Darkness + Dan Kennedy)

“Until we have seen someone’s darkness, we don’t really know who they are. Until we have forgiven someone’s darkness, we don’t really know what love is.” — Marianne Williamson

For years, I have blogged in the name of authenticity and transparency, knowing I had a deep dark secret I was not sharing.

I kept it to myself because I was afraid it would hurt my business.

I look back to posts in late 2009 and throughout 2010 when I was really going through it, questioning everything, uncertain about who and what to believe, and I am surprised to see how positive and upbeat my posts were.

On choices …and death

It’s been three weeks since my last post and in the interim my entire life has changed.  Turned upside down, inside out and back again. And it ain’t even close to over yet.

I live at the farm now, in community.  At least every other day, it feels as if I might die.

In so many ways, I am dying.  At least my identity is. And from a business/financial perspective this release of my identity feels like a huge error, a tremendous mistake … I’ve wondered more than once … “is this what failure looks like?”

Smart Tips – Your True Purpose by Alexis Neely

Are You Compromising For the Money Like This?

Even though I like to think of myself as someone who no longer compromises for the money, that’s simply not true and I do not want to lie to myself about it anymore.

Recently, an insidious compromise surfaced and the best way I know of to eradicate it is to call it out right here for all of us to see so that I won’t be tempted to keep it hidden in the shadows pretending it doesn’t exist.

What If You Stopped Resisting Playing Too Small?

For those of you in resistance to doing work you are good at, that comes easily, but doesn’t feel “big” enough … I spent years feeling this way about being a lawyer and serving lawyers. I resisted it, rejected it, pushed away from it, convinced myself I could not be all of who I really am because of it & I nearly killed a highly profitable business that does amazingly great work in the world as a result.

I did not care about the money if I could not have the freedom to be all of me.

Is Your Money Shadow Keeping You From the Life & Impact You Really Want?

Has your money shadow trapped you in a life or business model that is not congruent with who and how you want to be in the world?

It has if …

You find yourself doing things that feel out of alignment with who you are and what you came here to do in the world.

It has if …

You are in a job doing work you are not 100% in alignment with.  You know you are not impacting the world in as powerful a way as you possibly could and yet you are convinced you have no other choice because you need the paycheck.

Corporate Catch? Maybe You Can Be Entrepreneurial Right Where You Are.

I talk a lot about the freedom that comes from entrepreneurship.  And I do believe there is no better way to be truly free than to work for yourself doing work that is sustainable.

If you are a corporate catch, with the right business model in place you can be a corporate renegade and make great money, without being tied down by the 9-5 job.

I’m working with a client right now who is definitely a corporate catch.  He builds sales teams that sell high ticket items.
