Giving It All Up For Something Far Greater

You’ve watched my transformation here over the last couple of years.

First, my move from Los Angeles to the Boulder, Colorado area, then the breakup with Dave, marriage to Russell, and then split with Russell.

Through it all, I’ve continued to grow my businesses, serve with my Great Work, raise my children, and learn, grow and evolve myself. On yesterday’s Eyes Wide Open Coaching Circle call one of the questions asked was “Alexis, how do you keep going through the darkest moments?”

Married at Burning Man, Divorced at Eden – a new understanding of marriage

When I wrote that Russell and I decided to transition our relationship, many people asked what marriage means to me.  Beneath that question, I heard a belief that marriage means a commitment to work through everything and stay together no matter what.

That’s not what marriage means to me.

After this past week at Eden Unplugged and the completion ceremony that took place there, I can better speak to my understanding of marriage.

Russell and I married at Burning Man. He asked me on Tuesday and what was to be an engagement celebration that Friday night turned into our wedding.

But What About the Kids?

After my recent post about my break up with Russell, I received several comments that asked the same question so rather than respond there, I thought I would respond here.

The comments had the same general theme along the lines of … the breakup sounds like it went okay for you Alexis, but what about your kids?  How are they doing with it?

So I thought I would share more about that because it seems to reflect an important and fundamental misunderstanding about children and relationships, one I used to carry with me as well.

We Are in Training … Are You Joining Us?

I’m writing this after day 1 of Longevity Conference with David Wolfe and once again I am reminded of how important it is for us to get out from behind our computers and get into the community.

The world is transforming rapidly. I’m sure you can feel the evolutionary impulse quickening. And if you can’t, it’s very likely because you have shut down in numbness as a reaction to how much it all is to take in.

Numbness is not the answer, not in the emerging paradigm.

The World IS Crumbling and We CAN Save It

Last night, at Cynthia Kersey’s birthday fundraiser event (look for Barry Selby on Facebook for pictures) I had the great pleasure of getting to spend time with Bill Harris, the founder of Centerpointe and Holosync, the program that hundreds of thousands of people have used to improve their lives.

Bill is very likely more tapped into the collective consciousness than just about anyone I have ever met.

He has sold more personal development programs than possibly anyone currently living and deeply knows and understands human nature.

Why Truth?

Why am I so relentless for the truth and why do I think you “should” be too?  (I don’t really think you should be anything, take your own journey, but I’d really love for you to be relentless for the truth because I know it will change your life and the world when you are.)

Because it’s the only way we can wake up from the spell and really live the lives we came here to experience.  Why did you incarnate on this planet at this time?

Do you really think it was just happenstance?  Well, I suppose some do.  I don’t.

Truth in Life and Business

We must learn how to tell the truth.

It’s probably the single most important skill I’ve learned over all my years in business.

And it’s been the hardest as well.

If you think you always do tell the truth, here are some places you might not be:

1. You may not be telling your team members what you’d really like and how you really feel.

2.  You may not be looking at your business numbers.

3. You may not be seeing your own level of happiness and fulfillment.

How to Handle Negative Comments (on Your Blog & in Life) in a New Paradigm Way

Back in October, while I was on a retreat, I had some extra intense, really negative comments posted on my blog about my marriage to Russell (I mean more intense and negative than the ones that you see there now).

A caring colleague texted me and suggested I take down the comments.  I was torn.  I wanted to respond.  She said “don’t do it. Don’t give them any energy. It just breeds more.”

This was advice I’d heard again and again from other business friends and I was not in a place where I could respond to the comments (I was on retreat), so I had my team delete them.

Meditation Practice For Left-Brain Logical Thinkers

I’ve struggled with meditation for years. It never felt like it was “working” for me. I’d sit quietly and be “doing” it, but it never felt like anything was happening.  In fact, I often found my mind more engaged and activated by sitting quietly than what I thought was supposed to come of it.

I’d follow all the advice from meditation experts to follow my breath, let the thoughts float through, and I even invested a couple thousand dollars to learn the transcendental meditation practice, known as TM, only to forget my mantra within just a few short weeks.

Teachers, Healers, & Coaches … Do Your Work On Yourself

A few weeks ago I participated in a deep shamanic healing ceremony and it’s only now that I have enough distance from it that I can write about some of what came through.

These types of experiences are so much more about what happens afterward than what happens during.  I’m in major integration mode and it’s been challenging to share all that’s happening because there is so much and it feels like it’s happening at warp speed.

I’m having a hard time keeping up myself let alone getting it all down in writing.
