As a freelance web developer/blogger I've run into many instances (early in my efforts) where getting paid was an issue or delivering less than expected. You probably have a different project scope in your head than they do. Once those issues come up, it's a never ending battle. I've learned to outline the project and all details prior to starting. It might take an hour, even two to get that information together and you will likely not charge for it but it will keep everyone on track and in the same state of mind.

Alex - You're so right! As a new and growing business it is so tempting to do business on a shake and a prayer. We're so busy building relationships and being grateful that people want to work with us that we don't imagine we'll need anything so formal as an agreement. But it is essential for exactly the reasons you describe - to manage expectations and to clarify deliverables. That way there is no reason for the work to not meet expectations or to run the risk of not being paid...
By the way - love your voice - its very authentic.... Looking forward to reading the archives and catching more...

Re: "The next time shit happens in your life and business and you are sure you are going to die, I want you to think of me on that mountain, thinking I was going to die... And I want you to put your head down, cry your eyes out and then get back up and keep going."

I love this! Life and business is going to present challenges. Some more difficult than others. At the end of the day, the sooner you pick yourself up to deal with them, the easier it is to move forward. And if you have a group of friends to help you along the way, even better :-)

Congrats on your climb Alexis - that's quite the achievement!

Alexis,
You are awesome. I love how real, raw and honest you are. I don't have any in's with Oprah but I'll bet you get on the show and if you don't know that the Universe has something bigger planned for you. As one of the spiritual leaders at my church says, What we consider rejection, is God's protection. Looking forward to watching you on tv.

Absolutely. In life and in business it's not how many times you get knocked down/fall down that matter, it's how many times you get back up and keep going.

The mountains teach us a lot every time. I laugh when you said "I thought we were going to be hiking, but this was real mountain climbing." More than once I've been in those boots too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for pointing out that step 2 is so critical. "Assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled" is what LOA master Neville Goddard (most don't know about him, he wrote/lived in the early part of the 1900's) says.

What I love about your take on "assuming the feeling" is the EXTENT to which you took the feelings part of manifestation. YES - we have to feel ALL THE WAY TO THE FULFILLMENT, all the way through. I think many overlook the depth and extent to which we must "assume the feeling" so thanks for illustrating with a fantastic example.
