Are You Really Ready For It?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

The path to freedom isn’t easy.  It requires a breaking free of patterns and conditioning that have been ingrained over centuries.  Ancestral patterns handed down from one generation to the next.

It requires being willing to look at the things you’ve spent your entire life avoiding.

It requires being willing to acknowledge what you really want.  What you really, really, really, really, really want.  The thing you pretend you don’t really want that badly.

It requires being willing to speak your truth, even when it feels nearly impossible to do it because it’s too mean, harsh, confrontational our outlandish.  And it means finding a way to speak that truth from a place of compassion and love.

What Is This Thing Called Freedom?

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

After I wrote my last post about my next book (which still makes me quite queasy to think about), I realized that there may be some question regarding what I mean when I talk about freedom.

So I thought it might help if I got a bit more specific.

The road to freedom I’ll write about isn’t for everyone.  It can be a difficult path to travel.  It requires giving up the bonds and beliefs and security blankets we’ve clung to our whole lives.  The expectations and obligations that keep us in from being free.

If You Love Something …

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

You’ve heard the saying, right?

If you love something, set it free.  If it comes back to you, it’s yours.

God, I believe in that.  Oh yes, down to the bottom of my toes, I believe in it.

I’ve even experienced it in my own life.  A lot.  5 years ago, I set my husband free (and a whole house full of stuff I loved) and now 5 years later, it’s all back.
